I didn’t start out trying to be an entrepreneur.
When I was young, I moved to South America and worked wherever I could.
At 21, I was working long days for someone else — from 5am to 7pm, Monday through Saturday — earning about $20 a day.
It was hard work.
But I earned their trust.
One day, the woman I worked for asked me to do something simple.
She handed me a large stack of cash and said,
“Can you take this to the bank for me? It’s just down the street.”
It was $10,000.
In the U.S., that’s serious money.
Where I was living, it was life-changing.
What hit me even harder was this:
She made that money in about 15 days — selling fruit.
I remember asking myself a question I couldn’t shake:
“If she can do this… could I do it too?”
She ran a wholesale fruit business — trucks, drivers, routes to other cities.
My job was to organize inventory and help sell.
Over time, I asked to learn more.
She let me travel with the drivers.
That’s when I understood the system behind the business.
If I wanted a real shot, I needed a truck.
After watching my work ethic,
she and her husband offered to sell me one.
That’s how my first business started.
Some seasons went well.
Other seasons sent me right back to zero.
During that time, I wasn’t working for them anymore —
I was buying fruit from them, because some products didn’t grow where I sourced mine.
The business relationship continued.
They also had a daughter.
We became friends.
That turned into a relationship.
After three years, I asked the big question —
and we got married.
Now life was serious.
The business kept going, but things became harder.
The country grew more insecure.
To buy fruit in other cities, you had to carry large amounts of cash,
load it into your truck, and drive long distances.
Robberies became more common.
Every trip carried risk.
At that point, it wasn’t just about business anymore —
it was about my family.
So I came back to the U.S. to build a safer future.
I worked different jobs, then started a construction company.
Once again, everything depended on me.
I was packed with work.
Always busy.
No time for myself.
No time for my family.
Then COVID hit.
Work stopped almost completely.
We didn’t have the capital to support the business financially.
So we had to close it.
It felt like mistake after mistake.
I was frustrated — not because I wasn’t willing to work,
but because hard work alone clearly wasn’t enough.
Execution was never my issue.
Starting was never my issue.
But I learned this the hard way:
Executing without preparation can break you just as fast.
So instead of jumping into another business,
I decided to build knowledge first.
I committed to learning.
To understanding systems.
To finding structure.
I found a mentor who taught me how businesses actually break —
and how they’re meant to be built.
Every struggle I lived through
became the reason this system exists.
